About Tule River Alcoholism Program – Porterville
The Tule River Alcoholism Program is abbreviated as TRAP. It’s a program in Porterville, California. It’s administered by the Tule River Indian Tribe of California. It’s a service the tribe provides to its members in need of alcohol and drug treatment. The levels of care include residential alcohol and drug rehab, outpatient services, and outreach and prevention services. They are an authorized treatment provider for the Tulare County drug court program.
This is a 180-day residential treatment program for Tule River Tribe men looking to become sober from alcohol and drugs. During their stay, residents can expect to receive at least 12 hours a week of therapy through individual and group counseling. You’ll engage in 12 Step and Alcoholics Anonymous-based support groups and learn principles from the Living-in-Balance relapse prevention philosophy. Case managers assist residents in finding the community services they need for discharge. You’ll participate in culturally relevant therapeutic experiences such as sweat lodge and drumming.
Tribe members continue to receive culturally congruent, individual and group counseling after stepping down from residential treatment. They may also be referred directly to this level when appropriate.
Program staff liaise with nearby community agencies to keep tribal residents with alcohol and substance use issues from falling through the cracks. TRAP staff go to drug court, communicate with health services agencies in the surrounding area, and go to the homes of tribal members. Prevention programs include fetal alcohol prevention outreach, counseling and education programs in local schools, and sober youth recreation programs.
TRAP accepts only Tule River Indian Tribe members into its programs. They do not accept private insurance or out of network benefits.
