About Turning Point – Sunset Park
Turning Point in Brooklyn, New York, provides a stepping stone to help improve your life through education, health, social service programs and housing. They work in neighborhoods impacted by poverty, HIV, mental health and substance use disorders. Their goal is to provide housing for women, transitional living homes and street outreach programs.
The transitional living community is a 30 bed section of the Brooklyn women’s shelter. They support you when you’re homeless and or experience severe mental illness, domestic violence or sexual assaults. They help you secure permanent housing and provide a safe space where you can participate in therapeutic group activities. The young adult transitional shelter is for homeless young women ages 18 to 25.
Transitional shelter helps you develop independent living skills and access services like individual and group counseling and assistance in securing permanent housing. They’ll connect you with educational resources so you can finish your education and to community resources to help address chronic mental illness.
