About TWELFTH STEP HOUSE OF SAN DIEGO INC DBA HEARTLAND HOUSE – San Diego
Founded in 1960 as Twelfth Step House of San Diego, Heartland House is a rehab facility for men in San Diego, primarily between the ages of 18 and 65. Its services are for those struggling with alcohol and/or drug addiction. The clinic is comprised of two facilities. One serves as a recovery residence, and the other is a sober living house. In addition to Heartland House’s rehab treatment, the clinic also provides educational programs that cover things like financial literacy and HIV and other illnesses.
Heartland House’s program takes a multi-faceted approach by combining evidence-based practices with cultural competency. The clinic’s goal is to help you develop new problem-solving skills without turning to substances. Before entering the clinic’s inpatient program, you must undergo phone assessments.
Once admitted, you will work with a counselor to create an individualized treatment plan. The program aims to educate you on the disease of addiction so you play an active role in your recovery process. While in the program, you will have access to resources such as individual and group counseling, anger management training, and family counseling. You will also have the opportunity to participate in social activities.
The clinic will continue to work with you after you’ve completed the program through a weekly continuing care group that is focused on preventing relapses. In addition, alumni can continue to attend social events and/or sponsor a current client in the program.
One of Heartland House’s unique qualities is that nearly 40% of their residents are veterans and the clinic works closely with the Veterans Administration.
