About Valley HealthCare System – Fairmont

Valley HealthCare System was once known as the New Beginnings Program. They provide services to people who have mental illnesses, addictions, and intellectual or developmental disabilities. They’re based in Morgantown, West Virginia, and their services include crisis intervention services, short-term and long-term residential care, and outpatient programs.

The crisis services at Valley Health Care System include mental hygiene petitions, a crisis hotline, volunteer placements, and short-term residential care. Their main goal is to offer different types of responses to mental health or substance use emergencies. That way, you or your loved ones have a better chance of going forward with treatment.

The short-term residential care program gives a safe place for you if your psychiatric symptoms have become more acute. Or, if you’re in the early stages of drug or alcohol withdrawal, they can provide medical detox to reduce your cravings. In both cases, you’ll have ongoing medication management and individual and group therapy. The average length of stay for detox is three to seven days. If a mental health crisis has taken place, three days is the minimum, with the potential of staying over a month.

The long term treatment plan is if you need a prolonged plan of care. The long-term program is located in Fairmont but is available to those who want to attend and who are capable of undergoing long-term treatment. There are different residential programs for men and women.

The outpatient program helps you identify triggers that can hurt your recovery. You’ll learn new life skills and ways to cope with these triggers. There’s also peer support from your cohorts so that you won’t feel alone as you progress.

There’s also a separate program for children and families. Their case management can provide therapy and interventions for kids, families, and parents through in person and Telehealth.

Valley HealthCare System has had some poor reviews from past clients. Read up on the center to decide if it’s the best fit for you.
