About West Georgia Counseling and Assessment Services – LaGrange
Less than an hour away from the busiest airport in the world, you’ll find Lagrange, Georgia. It’s part of Troup County, home to West Point Lake, a popular spot for fishing and boating, and the historic Hills and Dales Estate, offering a glimpse into Georgia’s past. Since 2000, West Georgia Counseling and Assessment Services (WGCAS) has been helping area families who are experiencing mental health issues, including substance use disorders.
Most referrals for addiction treatment and co-occurring disorders come from the Department of Family & Children’s Services (DFCS), Troup County Juvenile Court, and the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children (MAAC). They accept Medicaid and most private insurance, but they also offer reduced self-pay rates for counseling services. If you’re referred through DFCS, there is no fee for treatment.
Getting started with counseling can feel overwhelming. The truth is, it’s one of the most effective ways to build a strong foundation for recovery. Outpatient treatment at WGCAS offers different types of counseling to meet you where you are.
They have individual counseling sessions to help you work through personal struggles. Group counseling connects you with others who understand what you’re going through. And since addiction doesn’t only affect you, they offer family counseling to help repair relationships and rebuild trust.
You can schedule counseling Monday through Friday but support doesn’t stop there. Counselors are also available after hours and for crisis situations, providing help when you need it most.
When you start outpatient treatment, you want to know you’re in good hands. Their counselors are licensed professionals. Each counselor is trained in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). They also use other proven methods, like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and the Matrix Model for substance use treatment.
They don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Their staff takes the time to understand your unique needs and review your case carefully to match you with a counselor specializing in the right support for you.
WGCAS stands out for its flexibility, offering services in various locations, including clients’ homes or DFACS offices, and accommodating non-traditional hours to meet the unique needs of each individual.
