About West Neighborhood Family Services Center – Las Vegas
West Neighborhood Family Services Center is an administrative office located in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a community services center that supports children, teens, and families who are facing a range of behavioral health challenges.
There are also dedicated services here to help foster children find supportive and permanent housing. Though they offer a range of services, their Juvenile Justice Services stand out to me most as these services help children whose lives have been impacted by a substance use disorder.
While this organization does not offer dedicated substance use recovery services, they can connect you to different resources that can help your child with struggles they’ve faced with drug and alcohol use.
There is a program offered through the Center called the Caliente Youth Center. This program works with children who are in correctional care. A part of this program that I find most valuable is its cognitive behavioral program which addresses a range of behavioral health struggles children face including substance use.
Teens learn through education and counseling the impact of substance use and will work with their counselor to determine the root cause of their substance use behaviors.
There’s another program that serves children in a similar manner called the Nevada Youth Training Center. For children who might need more supervised care, the Summit View Youth Center will support your teen in a maximum-security youth facility.
You can learn more about these programs when you connect with the team at West Neighborhood Family Services Center.
As children work with a medical and mental health team to address their substance use struggles, I appreciate that the Juvenile Justice Services have a dedicated focus on helping teens continue with their education. Teens get a chance to engage in a structured schedule that allows them to move through their adolescence in a productive and supported manner.
