Wheeler Health – Family Health & Wellness Center Behavioral Health is a health care center that offers drug and alcohol rehab. They are located in Bristol, Connecticut. They treat people for substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder. They also treat people who have been diagnosed with a mental health condition and struggle with addiction issues simultaneously. They can provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) to people who have extreme pain from detox or for those who have a mental health condition that is contributing to substance use.
You will have an assessment to determine which type of therapy will work best for you. They offer two levels of care. There is an intensive outpatient program (IOP) in which you will come in several times a week for a few hours at a time for treatment. They also offer a standard outpatient program in which you will just come in once or twice a week.
They offer many different types of therapy here, but everyone has group and individual therapy. Like most rehab centers, they offer cognitive behavioral therapy that encourages people to think in a more realistic way in order to change destructive behaviors.
They also provide trauma informed therapy. This is used to treat people who started using substances to deal with post traumatic stress disorder from scarring situations. They use motivational interviewing which involves a therapist asking you questions designed to motivate you.
They are the only company in Connecticut that offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for people with anxiety and depression. Magnetic fields are used to activate parts of the brain that have less activity than they should.
They have a gender based program for women and children which includes group therapy. They have gender specific groups as well as LGBTQIA group sessions.
