WisHope Recovery Center Is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Waukesha, Wisconsin. They treat people for substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder on both an outpatient and inpatient basis. They also treat people who have concurring mental health issues and addiction issues.
Most of your day will be spent in group therapy sessions where you will learn coping mechanisms for dealing with the stressors that caused you to use substances. You will also have occasional individual therapy sessions.
The best thing about this place is the unusual types of therapy they offer. They use Brainspotting which is a form of trauma therapy that delves into the subconscious. A “brainspot” has to do with the way your eyes are positioned when you recall certain memories. This therapy focuses on finding the eye positions that cause traumatic feelings and exploring them.
They also use psychodrama in which participants will role-play or act in a skit that deals with what they are going through. There is a staged area and the therapist acts as a director. It lets you rehearse difficult conversations and lets you prepare for stressful situations.
