About YMCA of Honolulu – Moanalua High School – Honolulu
YMCA of Honolulu provides addiction treatment services for adolescents in Honolulu, Hawaii. Teens can participate in the program through various school sites including the Moanalua High School. The cost of service is free with the program being funded by the Department of Health Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division and generous donors.
The adolescent substance use program is available for individuals who are between the ages of 11 and 18. Students can self refer themselves or be referred by a school counselor, youth community or the juvenile drug court program.
Your loved one will receive outpatient treatment services such as individual therapy to address the cause of their addiction. The counselor may touch on topics such as finding healthy coping mechanisms and peer pressure. They might also use therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy to help adjust negative beliefs that limit your child’s recovery.
Besides the beach and the ocean, Honolulu can offer you and your family numerous interesting activities to do outside of treatment sessions. A few places you can visit with them include the Pearl Harbor National Memorial and the Honolulu Museum of Art.
YMCA of Honolulu offers a safe teen program to make sure that your loved one is in a safe and supportive environment during non school hours. On top of simply providing a safe place to go after school, staff will work with teenagers in developing their relationships, problem solving skills, healthy living and academic success. Improving in all of these areas can help support their overall recovery from substance use disorder too.
Additional issues that the staff will work with youth clients on include connecting to jobs and advancing to higher education. Teens are able to register for the program at Moanalua High School and other nearby school sites.
