About Youth Haven – Naples
Youth Haven in Naples, Florida, has been caring for children and youth for over half a century. They are an emergency shelter for young people who are removed from their home due to a dangerous or abusive environment. These youth have often developed coping mechanisms that can be self destructive as much as they are a part of their survival. Youth Haven helps take care of the physical, emotional, and behavioral health of vulnerable youth, including those who are struggling with addiction, mental health issues, behavioral concerns or a history of trauma.
They are the only Florida therapeutic residential campus for children and adolescents who are between the ages of 6 and 20 and are unable to be at home. More than 70 children and youth can be cared for at one time on the Youth Haven Campus.
Many of the youth in residence here have learned negative behaviors, inherited or developed addictions, are experiencing mental health issues, and are unaware of their self worth due to the environments to which they have been exposed. Youth Haven provides a full campus of safety and support. Safe experiential and play therapies such as improv, art, music, and drama are coupled with trauma-informed, proven methods of supporting youth. These methods help them heal from trauma and overcome addictions, mental health struggles, and other behavioral issues that may have developed in their short lives.
Therapeutic and recreational activities are planned both on and off campus. These activities may include artistic and creative endeavors, athletic and sports activities, games and movies. Youth also participate in experiential and service-oriented projects that help build self-esteem and enable youth to discover who they are and how to heal.
Youth Haven is a four-star Charity, and help isn’t based on ability to pay. Referrals are usually made through local agencies, health and education professionals, courts or human services.
