12 Step Peer Support Meetings
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a 12-step program of recovery that helps adults overcome alcohol use disorder and substance use disorders. The recovery program involves attending regular recovery meetings, working through the 12-step program with a sponsor, and being of service to others in need – this can be helping out at a meeting, sponsoring others, or answering the AA helpline. Anyone can attend AA and you do not need to be sober. The only requirement is a desire to stop drinking. Meetings are available throughout the day, seven days a week.
Peer support program
The peer support program is offered by individuals with lived experience of addiction and recovery. To become a peer, these individuals must have been through an educational program and be certified by the state. Peers services include supporting individuals to create a recovery plan with specific recovery-related goals, navigate services, and attend meetings together.
