About AMS of Wisconsin – Onalaska
AMS, short for Addiction Medical Solutions, is a healthcare provider that offers medication assisted treatment (MAT) in Onalaska, Wisconsin. The facility primarily focuses on healing individuals who are addicted to opioids. The medications that are provided to reduce a client’s withdrawal symptoms are buprenorphine, Vivitrol and methadone. These medications are combined with counseling for effective treatment of opioid addiction. The choice of medication that a patient will take will be based on a mutual decision between the physician and the patient. Before treatment is administered, AMS will perform a mental health and substance abuse evaluation to determine the best course of treatment.
The staff members are dedicated to creating a results based treatment plan based on the client’s addiction history and specific needs. Individuals who desire to be admitted need to be 18 years of age and must have been dealing with opioid use disorder for at least one year.
This facility has an intensive outpatient program (IOP) where clients participate in 72 hours of intensive group therapy. The groups will focus on the principles of motivational enhancement therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Other topics that will be discussed in these sessions are relapse prevention, life skills training and psychoeducation. The intensive outpatient program meets four days a week for a little over two hours a day, totaling nine hours a week.
When clients transition into the aftercare program, they’ll continue to receive education on relapse prevention and cognitive behavioral principles. These services are designed to provide ongoing support for long term success.
