Good Samaritan Hospital is located in Vincennes, Indiana. They have inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services for those who have co-occurring drug issues and can get treatment. In their outpatient service, they treat people of all ages. Their inpatient service is for adults of 18 years or older.
This is a good place to go if you’ve tried several mental health treatments but have had limited success. They have two treatments that folks with treatment resistant depression might be interested in. These are transcranial magnetic stimulation and ECT. They’re FDA approved treatments that insurance plans cover in many cases.
ECT stands for electroconvulsive therapy. You’re placed under brief sedation to receive a mild electric current, usually to one hemisphere of your brain. Because it requires sedation, this treatment is reserved for people who haven’t had success with medication and talk therapy. There is an unfortunate stigma attached to this treatment which is undeserved, especially when you consider how effective it is.
Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a newly approved depression treatment. In this treatment, targeted areas near the surface of your brain are stimulated with magnets. This treatment is not invasive, and you don’t need anesthesia.
