Expanded Text
Catholic Charities’ philosophy for halfway houses is to offer a drug free and positive living environment for people transitioning back to the community from inpatient substance abuse treatment facilities. This recovery environment focuses on rebuilding health, independence, and productive lifestyles using traditional mutual aid treatment methods.
Transitional residential recovery housing
Residents who stay at this OASAS certified 16-bed community residence typically stay for 6 months during their outpatient drug and alcohol treatment. Residents are encouraged to explore local community recovery resources like AA, NA and SOS groups. During their stay, residents live in a substance-free environment and work on their personal goals that help sustain their recovery.
Peer-to-peer recovery support
While living at Mens Rutger House, peer-to-peer recovery support is shared between residents and when outside meetings are attended. Residents are able to enjoy structure, gain experience, and strengthen their recovery with people who are going through similar circumstances.`
