About Coastal Horizons Center Inc – Burgaw
Located in Burgaw, North Carolina, Coastal Horizons Center Inc is a nonprofit corporation that provides substance use and mental health services. The outpatient services available at this facility include an intensive outpatient program (IOP), medication assisted treatment (MAT) and harm reduction services. Individuals who have no insurance can pay for services on a sliding fee schedule. Coastal Horizons can also provide transportation and other assistance to support your recovery journey.
The 12 week intensive outpatient program involves three hours of therapy sessions throughout the week and case management services. The topics you and your counselor will discuss include emotion regulation, relapse prevention planning and mental health issues. Clients participating in medication assisted treatment will receive buprenorphine to help with managing their withdrawal symptoms.
One service I really like at this facility is their harm reduction services, which are freely provided to the community. Intravenous drug users are at a higher risk of being diagnosed with certain diseases. Clients can receive rapid screening for Syphilis, HIV and Hepatitis C. These services are confidential and reduce the prevalence of the disease. If you have a positive screening you’ll undergo confirmatory tests and receive a consultation and referrals for care. Additionally their Safe Syringe Program provides clean supplies at an individual’s request to decrease the spread of communicable diseases.
