About Colonial Management Group – Richmond
Colonial Management Group was located in Richmond, Virginia. They helped patients recover from opioid addiction. They’re closed now, but their main focus was counseling and they also had an intensive outpatient program with medication assisted treatment (MAT) that utilized methadone, buprenorphine and Suboxone.
Their counseling consisted of one on one, family and group sessions. They focused on helping patients deal with stress, handle loss and setbacks and find better ways to move forward. Long term success was their goal here by helping patients figure out the triggers that led to their addiction and ways to navigate them in the future.
They used counseling with MAT to help patients with detox and withdrawal symptoms. They believed medication under the guidance of a doctor and counselor was the best path to recovery. They stressed that MAT helped you return to work, family and social life as quickly as possible. They also felt that it’s better for a patient recovering from opioid addiction to learn to cope with their existing environment rather than be taken out of it.
The intensive outpatient program here was designed for people who didn’t quite need the level of care that an inpatient setting has but still needed some therapy and support. This program was focused on education about wellness, recovery, resiliency and family.
They handled Medicaid and Medicare patients as well as several private insurances but those were restricted by region. What really stood out for me about this treatment center was that they had a team effort approach to help people get better and recover.
