Let’s take a quick look at Community Concepts, Inc. They’re a non-profit organization located in Lewiston, Maine. I like the look of this clinic because they seem to really focus on supporting individuals and families together, helping them foster community development. They offer substance abuse treatment and mental health treatment as well, so dive into that further.

First, they have Community Concepts Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services. This service can help pregnant or postpartum women, as well as DUI offenders and criminal justice clients. They even have school-based services that offer outpatient substance abuse treatment focusing on adolescents and individuals with co-occurring conditions instead of just adults.

I liked the concept of their Nurturing Program for Families in Substance Abuse Treatment and Recovery. This is a 17-week program that addresses the effects substance abuse might have on families and those parenting.
What’s really unique about this location is that they provide full-day child care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. They also have a Head Start program, which is directed at early childhood education, health, nutrition and parent involvement. This program is for low-income children and families.

Their Maine Families Home Visiting Program offers support and education to new parents through home visits. They have some more unique offerings that I honestly have never seen at another clinic, such as energy assistance programs that help with heating costs, weatherization services to improve home energy efficiency, and emergency rental assistance.

Of course, they still offer mental health services such as crisis response, residential care, and counseling and therapy for individuals and families.
