About Compass Family and Community Services – Youngstown
Compass Family and Community Services is a nonprofit organization that provides drug and alcohol treatment in Youngstown, Ohio. They offer a variety of recovery services including counseling, intervention and drug alcohol and prevention. Their goal is to help improve the well-being of families and the community. Clients can choose to participate in the outpatient program or one of the inpatient programs available, such as the Horizon House or the Broadway Crisis Stabilization Unit.
Their services also expand beyond treating addiction by providing help with job training and assistance to individuals who’ve been the victim of sexual assault or domestic violence.
In the intensive outpatient program (IOP), clients will participate in group therapy and individual sessions. Group therapy allows patients to learn from other’s experiences, practice their social interaction skills and receive support.
Individual sessions will help individuals learn to develop coping skills and uncover the emotional issues that may have caused the addiction. Counselors may use therapeutic approaches such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing (MI). Case management is also available to patients to get access to resources that will help them recover. Random drug screenings may be conducted to hold clients accountable for maintaining their sobriety.
Psychiatric medication management is available to clients who may need medication to manage a mental health disorder that contributes to their addiction. Staff members will conduct a psychiatric evaluation to determine what medication is best for a client’s needs.
I like that they have recovery services tailored to specific groups such as adolescents and women. The women’s program focuses on the needs of women by addressing issues such as codependency and victim issues.
