About Corner House – Emporia
Located in Emporia, Kansas, Corner House is a non profit that offers alcohol and drug addiction treatment. The services available include traditional and intensive outpatient treatment, drug screenings and the employee assistance program. Individuals who meet the Kansas Client Placement Criteria and the Federal Poverty Guideline may be able to receive state financial assistance to pay for treatment.
Corner House primarily uses the Matrix Model to treat their clients, which is recognized by the National Institute of Drug Abuse as a scientific based approach. You’ll learn about relapse prevention from trained therapists and be regularly monitored for drug use through urine testing. You’ll also participate in social support groups and be introduced to 12 step programs.
When employees have personal or work related problems due to alcohol or drugs, it can negatively impact job performance. As a result, businesses lose money due to decreased productivity. Corner House offers an employee assistance program that provides training services and counseling for businesses looking for the best way to assist their employees.
EAP will include evaluations and assessments, workshops, drug screening and assistance with creating a drug free workplace policy. The workshops will touch on topics such as coping with change at work and workplace communication.
One unique thing I noticed that this facility does is that it has an entrance at the south side of its building marked “office” and off street parking that can be accessed through the alleyway. They do this to make sure your confidentiality is maintained.
The facility is about an hour away from Topeka, Kansas. In between your treatment sessions, you can take a day trip to the city to enjoy activities such as relaxing near Lake Shawnee or visiting the Kansas State Capitol Visitor Center.
