About Crescent House Transitional Residence Program – Lowell
Crescent House Transitional Residence is a supportive recovery housing program for veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in Lowell, Massachusetts. They provide comprehensive community reintegration services for tailored to the unique and complex needs of military personnel and veterans.
Their transitional residence is designed for veterans who are in active recovery and who are committed to building and maintaining a healthy, productive life of sobriety. You’ll be required to adhere to your treatment plan and to work toward your successful reintegration into civilian life by drawing on the vast range of services and supports their program provides for you.
I think one of the most important features of this program is the strong emphasis on vocational training and academic support. They really encourage their residents to develop marketable skills that will put the specter of homelessness behind them once and for all. Residents will also learn other essential recovery and independent living skills such as how to manage and maintain a home, build cooperative relationships with their housemates in recovery, and attend to their own personal physical, mental, and emotional health.
You’ll need to conform to house rules and may be required to take random drug and alcohol screenings. But in return you’ll get extensive support and highly individualized care. You’ll learn to deal with the trauma of service and to translate your experiences as a soldier into expertise that you can put toward your career, your home, and your community.
