About Cristo Rey Community Center – Lansing
Cristo Rey Community Center is a non-profit outpatient counseling service located in Lansing, Michigan. They treat people with substance and alcohol use disorders. They also support clients who have a mental health condition and a co-occurring substance use problem. They take Medicaid and also have some grants available.
They will give you an assessment over the phone. You will answer questions about the types of substances you use and how often you use them. They will then use that assessment to decide what type of treatment method would work best for you during therapy.
All clients are assigned a case manager who will stay with them throughout their progress. You will be treated with both group and individual therapy. Therapy is offered in the daytime during business hours but they do have some groups in the evening.
Substance use disorder (SUD) is most often treated with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which teaches you to look at things differently so you can change behaviors that are hurting you.
Group therapy is often gender-based. In some cases, you may be part of a group that is centered around a certain substance. They offer anger management classes once a week which is helpful if your substance use is related to anger issues.
They provide family therapy sessions here, This is helpful if your behaviors are hurting the people that you love. It gives you the opportunity to tell them how they can help your recovery and it allows them to tell you how your addiction issues have affected them.
