About DWC – Gratitude House – Amarillo
DWC Gratitude House, located in Amarillo, Texas, is a facility of Downtown Women’s Center. They provide a structured and supportive environment for women recovering from substance use. As part of DWC’s broader recovery program, Gratitude House is a transitional living facility where women and their children can continue their journey toward stability. This facility is specifically designed for women who have already taken steps toward recovery and need additional support to maintain sobriety while working toward independence.
At Gratitude House you’ll find fully furnished apartments with one or two bedrooms designed to provide a peaceful space while you work on your recovery. Unlike shelters this program focuses on helping women create long-term stability, with staff available 24/7 to assist when needed. This secure living space helps reduce relapse and promotes personal and professional growth.
The facility focuses on building accountability among their community. Women in the program participate in 12 Step meetings to reinforce their commitment to sobriety with help from peers who share similar experiences. There are also mandatory house meetings to discuss challenges. DWC encourages women to find work or attend school as part of rebuilding their lives and moving toward independence. The program ensures that recovery isn’t just about overcoming substance use but about gaining the skills needed for long term independence.
