About Exodus House – Kewaskum
Exodus House is a transitional living facility with 20 beds that supports adult males in the late stage of recovery from alcohol and drug dependency and abuse. This program is housed in a spacious Victorian-style home in Kewaskum, Wisconsin. They’re located just a block from the business district with easy access to stores, the library and a nearby park. They boast a cozy and homelike but structured environment.
The program is rooted in 12 Step philosophy via meetings, journaling and step work. It incorporates evidence based practices via group therapy and individual and family counseling. Group therapy is specifically essential as a tool for community support and engagement. It inspires peer interaction, connection and sharing of experiences between you and other residents. It’s a great avenue to build lasting relationships and friendships that provide mutual support even after treatment ends. You can even gain life skills like effective communication, stress/anger management and solving problems.
Family counseling focuses on improving communication, rebuilding trust and strengthening your relationships with loved ones. The goal is to ensure that your family works together to support your lasting sobriety. It’s also a powerful tool for setting healthy boundaries, handling stress and preventing relapse. They also provide specialized relapse prevention programming, vocational and educational referrals, and recreational activities. They emphasize having fun in recovery and strive to reconnect you with the joys of living a clean lifestyle.
You’re expected to follow the house rules including zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use. They also encourage you to actively participate in household duties like cooking, cleaning and light maintenance. The program lasts 90 days. The first 30 days focus on recovery and treatment planning. Treatment plans are tailored to your unique needs. They’re reviewed and modified throughout treatment to accommodate your changing needs.
The remaining 60 days focus on applying the coping skills learned in everyday life. They emphasize finding steady employment and actively participating in community and family programs. They also encourage you to explore fun, healthy activities to support a fulfilling life in recovery. It’s all about equipping you with new attitudes and lifestyles for a successful transition to a happy and productive future. They offer ongoing support via their sober living home post-treatment.
