About Family Service Bureau – Newark
Family Service Bureau of Newark, New Jersey, is an office based substance use and mental health disorder treatment center. If you live in the inner city, they want to see the quality of your life improve, including restoring family relationships that have been affected by substance use. Newark is known as the Brick City, and the Bureau believes that every day you work on addiction recovery is like another brick being added to the life you want to build.
At the Bureau you’ll get addiction medication and psychiatric counseling. Medication helps by taming withdrawal symptoms and cravings. When you feel better, it’s easier to focus on getting to the root cause of your addictive behaviors and learn new ways of coping with challenges.
You’ll see a counselor individually, and you’ll attend two or three groups per week, depending on your needs. If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety or other addiction related mental health challenges, they’ll help you with these.
Through counseling and other resources, they’ll give you the tools you need to make healthy choices and create a better life for yourself and your loved ones. There are other groups that you might benefit from such as anger management, parenting skills or domestic violence counseling.
What stands out to me is that they welcome all people who need help. They don’t discriminate against anyone based on what they believe, the color of their skin, their gender identity, or sexual orientation.
