About Fenway Health – Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center – Boston
Fenway Health’s Sidney Borum, Jr. Health Program is open to people ages 12 through 29. They provide several healthcare services including behavioral health and addiction care to all members of the community, with specialty programs for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC individuals. Borum also serves patients who are uninsured and homeless.
This location hosts two types of outpatient support groups. The first is short term skill development focused groups, which give you a place where you can build on the coping and living skills you learn in therapy. The second is an LGBTQIA+ specific support group, which serves as a safe place for the community to discuss whatever issues members may be facing.
These groups are easily accessible options for continuing support outside of treatment sessions. They’re in place when you need them and can be attended as often or infrequently as you’re comfortable with.
This location provides primary and mental health care, but what’s great about their program is how they connect the two. The medical social work program bridges your care providers so that they’re fully aware of all areas of your health and can better coordinate treatment. Your physician is informed of how you’re progressing in counseling and your mental health team is kept informed of physical health developments.
Having your providers on the same page is better for your overall health. All areas of your health are connected, so supporting your physical health can have a positive impact on your behavioral health and substance use disorder recovery.
Fenway Health works with all major insurance programs. They also provide reduced costs and financial assistance to all those who qualify.
