Hendricks House Group is an addiction recovery center for adults out in New Jersey. They offer outpatient programs and residential sober living programs across the state. Their Galloway Campus is in Egg Harbor City, which is a halfway house for men.
This place can accommodate up to 68 men at any given time. You’ll be divided into two buildings, with 34 men in each. One thing I like is that it’s set in a serene, private environment that feels like home. Most guys stay in the program for around four to six months.
While you’re there, you’ll follow a customized treatment plan to help you overcome drug and alcohol addiction. You’ll also get tips on how to cope with life’s stressors in healthy ways. During the day, you’ll partake in individual and group therapy and psychoeducation. There’ll be a case management team that will tackle your underlying health disorders..
To help you adapt to the program, they designed their facility to be as comfortable and homey as possible. In addition to your room, you’ll have access to communal dining rooms, living rooms, a kitchen and a gym. There’s a focus on teamwork and accountability, and all residents are required to cook dinner for the group on a rotating schedule. It’s neat how the staff members and counselors sit down to eat with the other guys at dinnertime. This gives everyone a chance to reflect on the day, talk about their goals and connect with each other.
