About Haven – Tucson
The Haven is a nonprofit addiction recovery facility in Tucson, Arizona. They offer outpatient substance abuse recovery services exclusively to women. The organization started with a residential facility staffed by a volunteer organization in 1970 and expanded over time. They now have an outpatient clinic, which was opened in 2015.
They are staffed with master’s level clinicians and recovery coaches who work to build trust with their clients. One thing I really like about The Haven is that they allow mothers to bring their children with them to the facility. They believe that relationships between family and children play an important role in successful treatment and relapse prevention.
The intensive outpatient program at The Haven is the middle ground between residential care and regular outpatient recovery. It’s a 90-day program where clients will participate in 16 to 30 hours of treatment services depending on their needs.
This time frame includes a minimum of 12 hours of weekly support group meetings and one hour of individual counseling. Patients will also participate in a minimum of three hours of weekly recovery-based classes. Additional services at this facility include random drug screenings, medication services, and case management support.
The group sessions and classes focus on evidence-based strategies for treating addiction. They have groups and classes for relapse prevention, recovery and living skills, and other important topics and resources that promote healing.
Patients will undergo an evaluation based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine criteria to determine if the intensive outpatient program is the right treatment option. After completion of treatment, The Haven will continue to give ongoing care by providing the client support for employment, housing, and education.
