This location offers after-school programs from 5:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Their after-school programs focus on topics related to drug and alcohol prevention. Kids can go here to learn about the effects of alcohol on their bodies and their ability to make healthy decisions. They will also learn how using substances can affect a person’s loved ones.
Kids who come into the center will be fed a meal as well as a snack. After the meal, they can attend a drug prevention program or participate in activities such as basketball or board games. Kids who don’t have a ride home will always be provided with transportation in the company van.
They teach older kids to be leaders in the community. Teens who are in the program will also give talks about the benefits of leading a drug-free lifestyle.
The center is located in the Cornhill neighborhood which is one of the most economically disadvantaged places in the area. They have several different homeless shelters that they can refer you to if you are in need of housing.
They operate an apartment building for women who are in recovery and their children. They have another building for single women who suffer from addiction issues and other mental health issues.
