About La Amistad Foundation – Lakewood – Fern Park
La Amistad Foundation – Lakewood is a residential treatment center on a 15-acre lakefront property in Fern Park, Florida. They provide residential treatment and medication management for adults 21 and over with severe mental illness. This facility is designed to support people for a long-term period of time with a minimum of six months and an average of 12 years stay. Some residents have stayed at this facility for 30 years.
Therapeutic programming includes supportive counseling, medication management and education, crisis management, psychoeducation, daily therapeutic groups, health education, and daily recreational activities. Residents have the option to participate in a voluntary work program that focuses on the necessary skills for success.
Lakewood Center is not equipped to serve individuals who meet the following criteria: co-occurring drug and alcohol related issues, eating disorders, borderline personality disorder, persistent mania, and cognitive challenges.
