About Maryland CHI Penn North – Baltimore
Penn North Recovery is a nonprofit organization in Baltimore, Maryland. As Baltimore’s longest-standing treatment facility, they provide care for adults facing the challenges of addiction, co-occurring disorders, poverty, stress, violence, homelessness, and racism. They never turn people away because of finances, offering sliding fee scales and free care if you’re eligible.
One thing that stands out to me is they offer Acudetox. During detox, clients receive acupuncture instead of medication to ease withdrawal symptoms. You’ll relax or meditate in a group for 45 minutes during your acupuncture treatment. They combine this service with counseling and 12-Step groups to promote your recovery and overall wellbeing.
Their expansive variety of community and wellness services also shine. You’ll have access to holistic approaches, including nutrition education, cooking classes, massages and other bodywork, healing circles, mindfulness techniques, art therapy, martial arts, and exercise. They provide a space to focus solely on recovery and find peace of mind. You’ll gain essential life skills while working through the challenges that contribute to addiction.
They also partner with local organizations to better serve you. You’ll benefit from monthly groceries, smoking cessation classes, bi-monthly std testing, and sex education. It’s great how they focus on nurturing several aspects of your life to help you get back on your feet, stay safe, and sustain recovery.
