About Operation PAR Academy for Behavioral Change – St. Petersburg
Operation PAR Academy for Behavioral Change is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Saint Petersburg, Florida. They treat people who have substance use disorder (SUD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD). They provide two separate residential treatment facilities; one for adults and one for adolescents.
If you are on medication for a mental health condition or for withdrawal symptoms, the staff can
provide medication management. They will make sure the medications are working properly. They can also determine if you need to change the dose you are taking.
You will have a full evaluation before you enter the facility. You will be provided with a bed and three meals a day as well. You will have individual therapy that is specifically designed for you.
Most of your day will be spent in group therapy. They have both gender-specific and non-specific groups. They have several different types of groups designed to prevent you from relapsing.
Addiction issues are most often treated with behavioral therapy. You will have groups that will offer you coping mechanisms for dealing with the situations that made you want to drink.
Anger management is also used to treat SUD. People often use substances because they have trouble controlling their emotions. Anger management will teach you what triggers your anger. It will teach you how to express your power in a way that is healthy and non-threatening.
Expressing yourself creatively can be one of the best ways to deal with emotions that cause you to use substances. You may paint, create music, or write poetry in a creative group.
You will also participate in recreational activities with other people in the program. You may go hiking, to the movies, or out to eat.
Parents of kids in treatment may worry that their kids will miss too much school. This place provides onsite Pinellas County High School and Vocational Education.
The staff will evaluate the kid’s behavior and give them assessments for the first two weeks of treatment. Treatment is given in stages. The first stage involves a great deal of family therapy, in which parents and siblings will be included.
Teens will have art therapy where they will create pieces based on their experience with addiction. They will also have a seeking safety group that teaches people how to be safe from their own addictions. They will participate in 12-step groups once a week.
