About Salvation Army – Adult Rehabilitation Center – Baltimore

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) was located in Baltimore, Maryland. This was a facility where adults aged 21 to 65 could come and receive supportive care for their drug, alcohol, or substance use struggles.

This was a residential program that spanned six months. During that time you would have engaged in targeted, person focused recovery services to help you regain control over your behavioral health and overall independence.

This program was offered free of charge, however, you may have been asked to pay a small fee if you were receiving government benefits.

Unfortunately, this rehabilitation center closed its doors permanently in 2020 in part because of the financial stressors during the pandemic.

At the heart of the ARC program was their work therapy approach. This is a hands on, skills based approach to recovery that allows you to reintegrate into society in a way that is structured, meaningful, and productive. All the while, you would have learned real world job readiness skills so that you could transition into gainful employment once you left the program here.

The Salvation Army is one of the nation’s most recognized faith based philanthropic organizations. This mission was tied heavily into the programming here. Your program would have incorporated faith based fellowship, counseling, and other services that encouraged you to lean on a higher power for support when you needed it.

Before it shut down, the ARC center was conveniently located in the West Baltimore neighborhood. It was just a few blocks from Silver Lake and not far from Lakeland Park.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
