About Swanson Center – La Porte
Swanson Center in LaPorte, Indiana, offers outpatient mental health and substance use treatment services for children, adolescents and adults. Their mental health professionals are licensed and accredited. They’re also certified and licensed by the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addictions. They accept most PPO and HMO insurance plans, and they also take Medicare and Medicaid. Depending on your financial situation, you may qualify for a fee subsidy.
At the center, children and adolescents can get evaluation and testing, including a psychiatric evaluation and medication if appropriate. There’s also individual, group and family therapy as well as trauma care. A case manager will work to coordinate services for your child or teen. They can also get substance abuse counseling at the center. If your child needs more than weekly counseling, the case manager may also offer home based counseling and crisis intervention and coordinate with your child’s school.
Adult services for substance use include intensive outpatient groups and substance abuse education classes. You can attend group and individual therapy, peer recovery services and continuing care groups. They offer some medication assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use, but it’s limited. If you need detox or inpatient treatment, they can give you a referral.
They have a full range of behavioral health services, and there’s a board certified psychiatrist on staff. You can get a psychiatric evaluation and psychotropic medication management if appropriate. You can work on any co-occurring mental health issues through individual and group therapy. They also have family and couples therapy.
They also have the Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) program if substance use or mental health issues have left you homeless. The program connects you with agencies that help with mental health and addiction services as well as primary care, housing assistance and employment.
