About Volunteers of America, Utah – Men’s Detoxification Center – Salt Lake City
Volunteers of America, Utah – Men’s Detoxification Center is a social model residential facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. You’ll benefit from a safe, stable environment to manage the physical symptoms of withdrawal. They serve men aged 18 or older who are starting their addiction recovery journey.
One of the best features I noticed was their program is very affordable. Depending on bed availability and your eligibility you can stay in their program for free for up to 30 days. They also assist you with applying for Medicaid if you don’t have insurance. For those who don’t qualify they provide a low cost fee.
Many attend detox as a first step in treatment before transitioning to another level of care. Their program provides personalized, non medical detox and withdrawal management. This means you’ll quit substances without medications. You may still have access to medication assisted treatment (MAT) after completing detox to help you sustain recovery.
Another standout feature is they provide trauma informed care. They understand that previous experiences can play a significant role in addiction. You’ll benefit from treatment that accounts for trauma and helps you work through and address triggers.
Along with withdrawal management you’ll have access to multiple services to support your journey. They provide case management, Seeking Safety groups, 12 Step meetings and peer support. They also offer assessments and connect you with ongoing care if you want further treatment.
Previous clients have mixed reviews. Some described their experiences with them as life changing and attribute their success in recovery to their empathetic staff and support. Others mentioned it was difficult to secure a bed. Recovery is a unique, personal experience, so be sure to research multiple facilities to find the best care for you.
