About WestCare Foundation – GulfCoast FL – St. Petersburg

WestCare Foundation – Gulf Coast FL belongs to the WestCare family of addiction treatment centers spread around the United States. The GulfCoast branch is located in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Along with hosting WestCare Foundation’s executive offices, this center also provides medication assisted treatment.

MAT is a powerful tool for overcoming addiction to opioids and alcohol. It involves taking carefully measured amounts of medications designed to remove intense withdrawal symptoms and substance cravings. This is incredibly helpful for anyone wanting to detox and maintain long term sobriety. These medications also reduce the euphoric effect of illicit substances, reducing the desire to use.

If you have children affected by your or a family member’s substance use, WestCare has designed the Camp Mariposa program specifically to support them. Six times a year, they run weekend camps for youths between the ages of 9 and 12, and ages 13 to 17.

At these weekend events, kids enjoy typical camp activities alongside education and support sessions. The support sessions are hosted by trained mental health professionals and give kids space to talk about their experiences and difficulties having a family member facing addiction.
