About Daymark Recovery Services – Wadesboro
Nestled among the trees in Wadesboro, North Carolina, Daymark Recovery Services’ Anson Center offers substance use and co-occurring mental health disorder treatment programs. The nonprofit organization serves youths and adults. They accept private insurance and Medicare. They also take Medicaid, and clients with Medicaid aren’t obligated to pay a copay, removing some of the obstacles to treatment.
The outpatient treatment services are designed to meet the needs of clients with significant psychiatric or behavioral symptoms and/or substance use disorder. One of the things I like about the services here is that the staff strives to provide not only evidence based services but also culturally affirmative substance use and mental health services.
Therapists explore a client’s cultural identity and the role that identity plays in their behavioral and mental health. Clients are then encouraged to embrace their authentic selves. Culturally affirmative treatment requires providers to be self aware of how their own unconscious biases, cultural assumptions, and background impact their perspectives.
Outpatient services include medication assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use if appropriate, psychiatry, and medication management for mental health issues. Clients participate in individual and group therapy depending on their custom treatment plan.
ACT is a community based program that serves adults 18 and up utilizing a team approach. Behavioral, medical, and rehabilitation professionals coordinate to meet the needs of clients with persistent and severe mental illnesses, including substance use.
I think clients will appreciate that services are available 24/7 every day of the year. To be eligible, clients must have a primary mental health diagnosis and have difficulty performing the routine tasks involved in adult living within the community, including maintaining a job. Those with a coexisting substance use disorder for more than six months and who meet the other requirements are eligible. The program goal is to reduce inpatient psychiatric hospital stays and assist clients in achieving independent living.
